Apprentice Night
February 25th, 2011For the first time recently, an Apprentice open night was hosted by East Ayshire Council and welcomed young people interested in embarking on an apprenticeship.
The evening was attended by current apprentices together with their managers and supervisors from within Housing Asset Services. Key partners from local colleges, who support them throughout their apprenticeships, were also present. This inspires young people present the invaluable insight into life as apprentice.
Recognition of apprentices’ hard word and dedication were also presented during the evening. The council took the opportunity to present certificates to four apprentices and an Apprentice of the Year award.
Councillor Douglas Reid, Leader of the Council, attended the opening evening to congratulate the apprentices and meet young people interested in learning a trade. He was also delightful because the evening gives an invaluable evening for those interested in an apprenticeship and was a great opportunity to congratulate the best apprentices.
Reid also added that all of the apprentices have shown great skill and commitment but five in particular have surpassed all expectation and have been outstanding. Four Highly Commended certificates were presented to Jamie Comming, Scott Dinwoodie, David Lees and Rheece Weir and the 2010 Apprentice of the Year Award went to Scott Wright.
The event was generously sponsored by Worcester Boilers. They also sponsored the Apprentice of the Year Award. ARCO will be sponsoring this year’s new starts and will provide their PPE kit for a year. Thanks also went to JTC Kitchens who provided the evening’s refreshments.
